Underhill becomes first junior team to capture squash league title
It was an all around team effort that led to a thrilling one-point victory for Underhill in Thursday Night Squash League championship match.

It was an all around team effort that led to a thrilling one-point victory for Underhill in Thursday Night Squash League championship match.
With three of the the team’s four players under the age of 16 years old, Underhill became the first junior group to capture the league title.
The team is made up of Zoe Walker, 15, Jeanette Carney, 15, Stephen Grundmanis, 13, and Charles Stuart, who is the only non-junior player on Underhill.
All of the junior players on Underhill take squash lessons at Better Bodies as much as three times a week and Grundmanis and Zoe are also members of the Sunday Junior Squash League.
Underhill, who was the third ranked team at the end of the regular season, defeated second place Kumon Learning in the semi-finals last Thursday.

Underhill 15, Whitehorse Travel 14
Stephen Grundmanis and Zoe Walker led the way offensively for Underhill. The pair scored a combined 12 points, with each player contributing the maximum six points awarded in an individual match.
Charles Stuart also pitched in with two points of his own and Jeanette Carney scored the team’s go ahead point in the victory.
Aiza Gomez scored the most points for Whitehorse Travel with six in total, while Sophia Flather notched five points of her own in the team’s loss.
Marie Cairns finished with two points for Whitehorse travel and Amberley Wolfe chipped in one point for the team.

Kumon Learning 23, Sterling Insurance 7
In the battle for third place, Kumon Learning put on a dominant offensive performance against Sterling Insurance.
The team came one point away from a perfect match with three of Kumon Learning’s four players scoring the maximum six points.
Beth Ellis went the five-game distance in her match against Dallas Yeulett. Ellis finished with six points in the match, winning her final game by a 9-1 score.
Judy Ratcliffe and Katrina Russell also scored six points for Kumon Learning, while Marshall Ewing notched five in the victory.
Yeulett finished with the most points for Sterling Insurance in the loss, scoring three in total.
Shannon Tessier notched two points, while Tracey Pittman and Roni-Sue Sparvier each scored one point.
