Roche Firth Financial may not have been the top team at the end of the regular season in the Tuesday Night Squash League, but an all around group effort ensured a championship victory in their contest against Assante.

Roche scored an impressive 16 points in the match for the title and limited Assante to 13 points in the close contest.

In the other league contest MEADIAsolutions defeated Yukon Brewing in the battle for third place.

Tuesday’s competition wrapped up play in the squash league for the 2007-08 season, which Better Bodies squash pro Marie Desmarais said went very well this year.

“League is successful because you are playing people at your own level of play,” she said.

“So that is what makes it exciting. You are competitive with one another. Everybody is playing at their level of play and it is exciting. It’s like playing a tournament every week.”

Desmarais said the best part about the league is the improvement shown by the players at the end of season.

“You see some people at the beginning of the year who are a little bit rusty,” she said.

“A lot them are trying to improve their game, they are taking lessons and by the end of year, you see a huge improvement.”
