Subscribers of Navigo Broadband who were charged double for wireless services this month will be reimbursed and receive customer notification of the mistake, a company spokesman told the Star Tuesday.
Due to a software glitch, 400 of Navigo’s 600 subscribers were charged double their regular fees, said Chris McNutt, marketing manager for Latitude Wireless.
Navigo first became aware of the problem late last Friday afternoon, and didn’t have time to fix the error before invoices were mailed out, he said.
McNutt said the source of the mix-up was a third-party billing provider the company uses.
But, he pointed out, Navigo is “not completely out of the loop” when it comes to the billing because it works in conjunction with the external service provider.
All customers received a credit balance on their credit cards as of Monday, said McNutt, and customer notifications are ongoing.
While Navigo received several calls from concerned customers, said McNutt, the company was already aware of the fluke.
Navigo Broadband, a local subsidiary of Northwestel, was founded in 2006.
