Yukon skiers struck silver on the second day of competition at the 2024 Special Olympics Canada Winter Games in Calgary Thursday.

According to a Special Olympics Yukon press release, Darby McIntyre and Owen Munroe hung another medal around their necks thanks to their excellent performance on the trails at the Confederation Park Golf Course. Darby completed the 7.5 km classic course in 26:28.10 to win the silver medal in M1. Owen finished the distance in 41:06.60 to win silver as well, in M3.

McIntyre and Munroe followed up their gold medal performances in the 5 km classic finals Wednesday.

Ernest Chua came “O” so close in the 500 metre classic final, finishing in fourth place in M1 with a time of 2:34.00.

In the afternoon, Chau skied in the 2.5 km classic division-determining race in 26:09.90, which places him in the M4 final today.

The Curling squad of Carrie Rudolph, Brandle Bruneau, Edward Kaye and Gaetan Michaud was victorious in their final round robin match of the tournament, winning 4-2 against B.C. (Campbell River).

That victory placed them third in the round robin, which meant a second date with Ontario (Ottawa). The fabulous foursome played really well, but wound up shaking hands after four ends of play (9-0 final).

The high rolling bowlers, which consist of Mallory Pigage, Garry Chaplin, Gracie Ryckman, Duncan McRae and Bobbi-Rae Patchett had an impressive day at The Bowling Depot, winning two matches vs. Ontario 1 and Ontario 2 and losing 1 vs. Newfoundland and Labrador. They finished the preliminary portion with a record of 3-3.
