Sport Yukon and the ParticipACTION 150 Play List Tour are teaming up to offer a day of activities for Yukoners in Whitehorse.

On May 13, Yukoners will be able to attend the event in Shipyards Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and try different activities.

Sport Yukon will be on site with a fit light station, tug of war, bean bag toss and a fish pond for prizes.

Yukon Orienteering will set up a course for participants to try.

The Glacier Bears Swim Club will host dryland activities.

Athletics Yukon will have a mix of field and track sports to try.

Yukon soccer will be there as well as Judo Yukon.

The Yukon Aboriginal Sport Circle will have a number of activities for participants including some traditional Arctic sports like stick pull, high kick and knuckle hop as well as lacrosse.

An event-specific passport will be available for participants to check off each of the activities as they try them. Prizes will be available.

The passports are also online and part of a bigger campaign at participACTION.com/150 to get Canadians active and trying new sports and activities.

ParticipACTION’s Stacie Smith said there would be one more official stop in the Yukon: Faro, on May 15th for a giant game of grounders at the Del Van Gorder School.

Faro is also organizing a community event on the August 4 weekend, to encourage adults to stay active with adult summer camp activities like hiking, fishing and golfing.

Other events are being held across the country for the ParticipACTION 150 Play List Tour.
