In Loving Memory of Bradley Richard Geier

July 28, 1980 – January 4, 2024

The family of Bradley Richard Geier sorrowfully share his passing on January 4, 2024. He was 43 years loved.

Brad was welcomed into this world by his father Dave, mother Karen, brother Scott and sister Lisa on July 28, 1980, in the loving community of Belmont, Ontario. It was here that skinny Brad, fondly nicknamed “Bones” grew up with the love and support of his close knit family and community. Growing up Brad was passionate about sports and left his mark in all that he was eager to do. His hard earned efforts filled his shelves with trophies and medals from racing go-karts and sprint cars, playing hockey as defenseman #8 and shooting exceptional rounds on the course. When he wasn't championing these passions he could be found rebuilding and restoring his prized 1966 black hardtop mustang.

Fresh out of high school, Brad followed a dream and journeyed west. After a year of studying (partying) and racking up his student loans at Grant McEwan University in Edmonton Alberta, Brad accepted a position at Mountain View Golf Club as their assistant golf pro. He didn't know it at the time but it was here, in Whitehorse Yukon, that he would find golf was a sport he loved not his destined career, lifelong friendships, the loves of his life and his home for evermore.

Brad met Jodi not long after he arrived in Whitehorse. Jodi was working as a server at Neighbour’s Pub and Brad dressed to impress, in his preppy golf attire, had yet to turn the legal drinking age of 19. His perfect smile, long lashed blue eyes and easy laugh won her over on the spot. Either mistakenly or purposely... depends who you ask... Jodi allowed him to stay in the bar and from that moment on their separate stories become one.

Over the next few years Brad tried his hand at many things. Selling furniture, slinging drinks, serving food and working for a local communications company. He was blessed with many lasting friendships from these endeavours but realized with certainty that he wanted to be an employer not an employee. Brad was destined to become his own boss and without a lot of experience nor finances he founded his first company, Complete General Contracting. Although this satisfied his desire to work for himself, it did not fulfill his desire to achieve something greater.

In 2008, with two of his soon to be three children born, a supportive wife but limited funds Brad in typical Brad fashion went "all in" with the purchase of Spectrum Security & Sound Ltd. Initially, Spectrum's main operation was installing and monitoring security systems to limited customers. Brad had a vision and with excessive determination made his dream reality. Spectrum is now a highly recognized company that specializes in video surveillance, access control, home automation, as well as telephone, voice and data networks supplying and servicing numerous customers throughout Yukon and Northern BC. Brad was decisive in business and made confident decisions as fast as the phone calls, emails and questions came in. His commitment to his profession and his attention to detail in his work made him a highly sought after consultant and technician. He was proud of his accomplishments and had every reason to be. He laid it all on the table and he wasn't prepared to lose. Brad's hard work and dedication to his career was unprecedented. He had a natural understanding of technology and was quick to learn what he did not already know. Brad worked devotedly and tirelessly for the love of his family and the opportunities it would provide for them.

Overshadowing Bradley's pride in work would only be his pride for his family, especially his beloved children, Cameron, Emma and Mason. Unequivocally, his greatest achievements, true loves of his life and the driving force behind his ambition. Whether it was camping, fishing, hunting, driving, building, repairing or just living, Brad lead by example and guided his children every step of the way to commit, work hard, do it right or don't do it at all, be brave, stand up for yourself, others, what's right and to laugh at all the things that are stupidly funny in between (Adam Sandler). Brad cherished his three beautiful children, who filled his heart with unconditional love and pride.

In every great story there is always a sidekick. For B-Rad this was his closest and dearest friend Al Ohlin. Brad and Al were brothers in the way it truly matters. Twins in humour and similar in mannerisms. Brad and Al were blessed to have shared a friendship of fortune rich in honesty, respect, adventures, and laughter.

Not a day will go by when Bradley won't be desperately missed and remembered for all the extraordinary things that made him unique in this world. In his wake, his absence will be felt in the hearts of all those that survive him. Off the bow, he will be welcomed and held dearly by all of those that have passed before him until we meet again.

“Walking through this life together hand-in-hand we will be forever”

Miss Me But Let Me Go

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me,
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free!

Miss me a little, but not for long,
And not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me, but let me go!

For this a journey we all must take,
And each must go alone;
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home.

When you are lonely and sick of heart
Go to the friends we know,
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds,
Miss me, but let me go.

My condolences to Jodi and family which I had the pleasure on knowing for many years when I resided in Whitehorse. Brad stayed at my house in his early days as an Assistant Pro at Mountain View Golf Course and I got to know him quite well and saw his courtship with Jodi start and blossom to the amazing family they have now. He is now in Golf Heaven.
