The Robert Campbell Highway washout between Watson Lake and Ross River was repaired Monday and the road was re-opened to traffic at 3 p.m., says a government spokesman.
Ben Horowitz of the Department of Highways and Public Works said while crews initially estimated it would take a few days to make repairs, they were able complete the work yesterday.
The washout was reported Sunday night.
Horowitz said a culvert had been plugged by beavers, backing up water along the ditches in the area. That eventually led to the washout approximately 100 metres from the culvert.
The washout was located 250 kilometres north of Watson Lake and 110 kilometres south of Ross River, he said.
Horowitz said crews were able to unplug the culvert.
Signs notifying motorists about the road closure had been posted in Ross River and Watson Lake, he said.
