Yukoninfo.com get the job done
In over 35’s soccer, Yukoninfo.com, so good early in the season, were able to relive their glory days even without their handsome skipper Miles Hume.
In over 35’s soccer, Yukoninfo.com, so good early in the season, were able to relive their glory days even without their handsome skipper Miles Hume.
Hume was away representing the Yukon in the Canadian Mullet championships in Alberta, where he has a great chance to come away with the golden scissors.
The game was over as a contest by half time, as Info ran in four goals to Chieftains one.
The goals were spread around, with River Walton, Matt Larsen, Mike Zuccarini and Tebogo all getting one each.
There was a fear that this may turn into a savage beating, but Chieftain pulled their socks up and got a consolation through Guilano Rayo.
The second half was a stalemate, both teams trying to find a way through, but were left disappointed by good defending and poor shooting.
The win for Yukoninfo.com keeps them in the title race, but they need to be perfect for the remaining games, and hope results go their way.
Hoskin deadly for
Driving Force
Roger Hoskin was dialed in for his game with Pepsi, as he scored a couple of goals and was always a willing runner as Driving Force overcame Pepsi.
Driving Force have already beaten Pepsi twice this season and the result was never in doubt once Iain Breckenridge had scored the first of his two goals.
Sandy Gross, normally a good source for goals, was not at the races, as his nine attempts on goal all failed to register.
So it was left to Hoskin to show Gross how to score.
Pepsi were again without the services of Jonathann Hawkins and they struggled to get any traction in the game.
It was left to Franklin Fru to score his usual goal and for Stephen Doyle to score an unusual goal with his knee.
The result has spiced things up at the top of the table, as Driving Force find themselves one point behind the leaders Klondike Business Solutions and three in front of Pepsi.
Klondike Office Systems
win a thriller
In one of the best games of the season, KOS edged Yukon Brewing 3-1 in a breathtaking encounter.
The teams were well matched.
Yukon Brewing strategy is based on hardwork and physicality, while KOS relies on passing and movement.
The Brew were able to nullify the passing of KOS and were able to dominate the possession for long periods of the game, but the Canaries were well organised in defence as usual and many shots were blocked or hit straight at the keeper.
Phil Jackson opened the scoring for Yukon Brewing with a delightful long range effort, but Mark Chandler levelled the game with a well-executed goal just before half time.
The second half was pulsating, with the Brew constantly testing the Klondike Office Systems back line and KOS looking dangerous on the counter attack.
With a minute to go, KOS won a contested penalty which Chandler scored. Andy Todd got a late goal to rub salt in the Brewing wounds.
