According to a press release, the Yukon Quest International Association (Canada) elected the new board at its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday.

The new board of directors includes Anne Tayler and Didier Moggia returning from last year, along with musher representative Frank Turner, with Jonathan Alsberghe, Nathaniel Hamlyn, Mackenzie Hare, Ed Hopkins and Carol Locke picked as new directors.

Outgoing board members are Susie Rogan, Trudy Burdess, Hans Gatt, Sebastian Schnuelle, Bryan Alp, Patrick Beille and Thomas Tetz.

The YQ membership also passed new bylaws, continuing the process to bring the organization into compliance with the new Societies Act.

Next up for the Quest is the annual Barkfest & Sign-Up Day on Saturday, Aug. 6 outside the Whitehorse office.

The event will include a barbecue, a draw prize, dog demonstrations, and a canicross and bikejor race organized in partnership with the Dog Powered Sports Association of the Yukon.

The 2023 Yukon Quest will start in Whitehorse, Yukon, on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, and feature three race distances – 450 miles, 250 miles and 100 miles – ending in Dawson City, Pelly Crossing and Braeburn, respectively.

Anyone looking to get involved with the Yukon Quest as a director is invited to contact the Whitehorse office for details.
