North America is right in between Canadian and U.S. Thanksgivings, but that didn’t stop Josh ‘Turkey’ Turcotte from taking flight Sunday in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action at Takhini Arena. Turcotte tallied a trio of taters to take his Yukon Inn team to an 8-4 doubling of CapriCMW. Joel Witten added a pair (and three helpers), and single shots came from Johnny Sembsmoen, Lance Bevilacqua and Geordan Clark. Scott Palfreyman and Ron Billingsley each netted two for Capri.
Tim Hortons 5, Medicine Chest 2
Five different skaters scored in Tim’s well-rounded swarming attack - Mike Blower, Dave Wipf, Bernie Adilman, Doug Terry and Kyle Rolling. League scoring leader Shawn Kinsella popped in one, and Kevin Topping topped up the scoring for the Chest.
Air North 3, Titanium Storage 1
The airmen continued their stingy defensive play in this low-scoring affair. Kirk Price netted two in the win, and Mike Sage added the other on a slick passing play. Ken Vickerman spoiled Floyd McCormick’s shutout.
Firth Rangers 4, Kilrich 4
Michel Dubois scored with 102 seconds left in the game to earn the Rangers a point in the standings. George Morgan, Jeremy Germaine and Frank Aucoin added one apiece. For Kilrich, Martin Lawrie sawed in three and Carl Cibart chipped in the other.
Thursday
Kilrich 6, Medicine Chest 3
The King-Grottoli-Lawrie line was too much to handle for the medical men, as Mark (two), Anthony (two) and Martin (one) led the way for the lumber lads. Ron Cruikshank also scored on a crafty wraparound. Kevin Topping tapped in two, and Shawn Kinsella connected for one in defeat.
Firth 10, EDI 7
Frank Aucoin led the Firth flurry with four fillers, Peter Johnston rifled in a hatty, Michel Dubois added two and Jeremy Germaine got the other. For EDI, it was Kevin Johnstone and Dustin Heffner with two each, and Greg Charlie, Tim Turner-Davis and Rick Gingell each with one. Rob Clarke was heroic in net in defeat.
Wednesday
Air North 5, CapriCMW 4
Dave Bakica, who has obviously been working on his game since retirement, scored the game winner as the flyboys squeaked by the bright green guys. George Maratos, Adam O’Dell, Brian Currie and Dane Freiburger also delivered goals. For Capri, Scott Palfreyman led the way yet again with a pair of goals, and Ron Billingsley and Garrett Kuptana contributed one apiece.
Titanium Storage 7, Tim Hortons 5
Luke Johnson scored the winner and added two more for Titanium in the shootout. Rick Moses, Chris Carli, Josh Savill and Kris King added a single each. For Tims, Chris Lane poured in two, and Doug Terry, Lorne Burnett and Kyle Rolling each netted one.
