Goaler Paul Husband entered his save of the year candidate as he helped his CapriCMW teammates earn a 4-4 tie with Firth in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Sunday at Takhini Arena. Husband’s over-the-back windmill stick save on a scramble had the crowd and assembled media buzzing, sure that it was Dominic Hasek himself between the pipes.

Four different goalscorers were on display for each team: Capri - Scott Palfreyman, Garrett Kuptana, Ron Billingsley and Ed van Randen; Firth - Michel Dubois, Jeremy Germaine, Norm Watson and Peter Johnston.

Yukon Inn 3, EDI 2

The Inn gang held off a spirited comeback attempt from EDI, with Reggie Laguerre, Joel Witten and Geordan Clark supplying the offence. League patriarch Bernie Heffner and Rick Gingell responded for EDI.

Medicine Chest 7,
Titanium Storage 5

The trio of Nate Clark (three), Shawn Kinsella (two) and Kevin Topping (one) did most of the damage for MC, with Derek Bilodeau netting the other. For Titanium, it was Tyson Wirth with three as well, and solo shots from Luke Johnson and Josh Savill.

Air North 4, Kilrich 1

Adam O’Dell and Kirk Price were flying high with two markers each in victory. Mark King scored the lone Kilrich goal.

Wednesday

Yukon Inn 10, Firth 2

The men in grey set an oldtimers record (verified by the home office in Carmacks), as they had nine different players record goals in the game. Daryl Berube led the balanced attack with two goals, and the singles were supplied by Gary McKellar, Willy McKenna, Reggie Laguerre, Joel Talbot, Johnny Sembsmoen, Brad Hameister, Geordan Clark and Lance Bevilacqua. Peter Johnston and Marcello Masone scored in defeat.

EDI 2, Air North 1

Paul Dainton was near flawless in net for EDI, as they gutted out the tight win. Greg Charlie and Rick Gingell supplied the offence. Dave White sniped a powerplay goal for the Jets.

The Yukon Inn continues to lead the league standings with 21 points (10-2-1). TA Firth is in second with 18 (8-3-2). Medicine Chest (7-7-1) and Air North (6-6-3) are tied for third with 15 points each.

To no one’s surprise, the Chest’s Nate Clark has assumed the scoring lead with 31 points (18G, 13A in only 8 games). Clark’s linemate Shawn Kinsella is right behind him with 29 points (15G,14A) in 13 games, and Firth’s Frank Aucoin is right behind Kinsella with 28 points, including a league-leading 24 goals in 13 games.

EDI’s Paul Dainton leads the goalies with a 2.40 Goals Against Average. Air North’s Floyd McCormick is flying high in second with a 3.07 GAA and Gerald Tetlichi of Kilrich, has built up a 3.08 GAA.

Yukon Inn’s Glen Traverse leads in goalie wins with 10. Dainton and McCormick are tied for second with 6 wins apiece.
