Revised - Yukon’s Terry Miller rink is having a competitive 2023 Canadian Mixed Curling Championships.

The Champs are taking place at Swift Current, Saskatchewan Nov. 5-11.

Miller’s foursome – lead Laura Wilson, second Peter Anderson, third Laini Klassen and Miller – got off to a tough start against Quebec on Sunday, conceding 8-4. Quebec led off with three in the first end. The Miller rink bounced back with two of their own in the second end and continued to hang tough after that, tying it in the third and fifth ends to pull even at 4-4. Unfortunately, they gave up four in the seventh end and that was all she wrote.

They had another hard-fought game against Ontario in Draw 2 Sunday. The game was tied at threes after the Miller foursome scored two in the fourth.

Ontario scored two in each of the fifth and sixth ends, but Yukon bounced back with two of their own in the seventh to make it 7-5 Ontario.

They would get no closer after that, as Ontario scored a single in the eighth to close out the win.

The Miller rink finally broke through against Northern Ontario in Draw 4 on Monday. They started well, scoring one in the first. Northern Ontario’s Trevor Bonot rink came back with one in each of the second and third ends. However, the Miller rink bounced back with two in a decisive fourth end. The teams traded singles through the next four ends, with the Yukon scoring the last point in the eighth, resulting in a 5-4 victory for Team Miller.

The Yukon rink looked to even their record against Saskatchewan in Draw 7 Tuesday but fell short. They kept it close with a 4-2 score after four ends, but Saskatchewan broke it open with three each in the fifth and six ends for a 10-2 victory.

Yukon was looking to bounce back against Nova Scotia in the evening draw, but gave up six in the opening end to put themselves in a deep hole. Nova Scotia’s Flemming rink added four more in the next three ends before the Miller rink responded with one in the fifth for a final score of 10-1.

Team Yukon sits fifth in the Pool A standings with a 1-4 record.

They finish off the round-robin today at 1 p.m. with a game against winless P.E.I.

The 2023 Canadian Mixed Champs can be live-streamed at a very reasonable cost of $9.99 for all games at https://plus.curling.ca/
