Team Yukon ended the Arctic Winter Games in a comfortable fourth place position in the medal standings,
Team Yukon ended the Arctic Winter Games in a comfortable fourth place position in the medal standings, after an impressive display of Yukon athletic talent.
The team had a medal in almost every sport at the games, with several athletes taking home a collection of gold, silver or bronze ulus.
Yukon had multiple medals in snowshoeing, where they scored six gold, four silver, and four bronze ulus.
The athletes also collected multiple gold medals in Arctic Sports, cross country skiing, figure skating and dog mushing.
Many individual athletes became multiple medallists at the Games, including Anna Rivard who racked up three gold and three silver ulus in Arctic Games.
Kieran Halliday and Bryn Hoffman brought home three gold medals, while Rachel Kinvig and Heather Clarke had two gold medals apiece.
Sarah Koltun skipped her junior female curling team to a gold over the weekend. The Yukon rink defeated rivals the Northwest Territories in the gold medal game 7-2. This was Koltun's second appearance at the Arctic Winter Games.
In junior male curling, Team Thomas Scoffin earned a silver ulu after a 8-0 defeat was handed to them by Team Alberta North.
After a hard fought week in the round robin tournament, the junior female hockey team brought home a gold, after a win in the semi finals over Alaska earned them a trip to the gold medal game.
Team Yukon also earned two gold medals in badminton, and in table tennis.
