Three games on Saturday at F.H. Collins Secondary School helped usher in the new season and its own storylines.
Joesel Rumbaoa, a member of Triomni, the league’s defending champs, said there were a few exciting moments over the weekend.
He said the atmosphere was solid.
“There was lots of good games and then there was one overtime game,” he said.
Down by four with just enough time left for a full shot clock, a penalty was called.
Two shots. The shooter sunk the first, but missed the second. Luckily, his team got the rebound and got it out to him at the 3-point line. He took the shot and sunk it, tying up the game for overtime.
The Yukon Pinoy Baskeball League began in 2007 with four teams and has grown to 12 this year.
The league will once again feature two divisions, over 35s (four teams) and under 35s (eight teams).
The league has five games a week, three on Saturday evenings, and two on Sundays, starting at 5 p.m. at F.H. Collins.
