The hero eddy was at capacity Wednesday night as paddlers from Yukon and beyond waited their turn to dazzle the crowd with their whitewater tricks.

Boogie boarders spun their boards, while canoe and kayaks flipped and rolled in the play hole upstream of the Rotary Millennium Bridge.
The stacked advanced kayak field included two former national freestyle kayaking team members, a Paralympian and a ton of local talent.
The Yukon Canoe and Kayak Club has been hosting the whitewater rodeo for more than 20 years. This year, a slalom course at the intake challenged racers with two cross-river ferries before tackling the about 10-gate course.
Full results were unavailable at press time, however class winners included: Luanda Pronovost, boogie boarding; Logan Kruse, beginner freestyle kayak; Dean Bennett, intermediate freestyle kayaking; Kevin Daffe, advanced freestyle kayaking; Trevor Braun, canoe freestyle; Kevin Daffe, slalom; and “A great team of 5!”, raft flip race.
