Muckers win high scoring contest in rec hockey league

It was an offensive clinic Monday night in the Whitehorse Recreational League's A division between the Kluane Drillers and the Terra Firma Muckers.

It was an offensive clinic Monday night in the Whitehorse Recreational League's A division between the Kluane Drillers and the Terra Firma Muckers.

After trailing 5-4 by the conclusion of the first period, the Muckers stormed back to score six goals in the second frame. The team went on to win the game by an impressive score of 10-6.

Terra Firma Muckers 10,

Kluane Drillers 6

Nathan Dumont got the Muckers off to a quick start, netting the first goal less than two minutes into the game. Dumont added three more goals to finish with an impressive total of four in his team's win.

Rene Lapierre and Dave Hart also played very well for the Muckers each finishing with two goals and one assist.

Other goal scorers on the team included Hugo Bergeron and Dan Beaudoin.

Bob Pitzel tallied the most goals for the Drillers, finishing with two in total, while the team's other scorers included Tyler Murray, Pat Anderson, Mark Danels and Joe Vigneau.

Roadhouse 11, Yukon Appliance 1

The players on Roadhouse didn't hold anything back in their dominating 11-1 win against Yukon Appliance Monday in the Whitehorse Recreational Hockey League's A division.

As good as the opening period was for Roadhouse, the squad was even more impressive in the second frame, scoring seven unanswered goals.

Jamie Cairns and Scott Horsey led Roadhouse in scoring with each player notching two goals and adding two assists.

Matt Horsey and Corrie Dixon also netted two goals each, while the remaining goal scorers on Roadhouse included Darren VanLangen, Troy Cairns and Ryan Hodgins.

David Larkin contributed three assists in the win and Mark King finished with two assists.

Yukon Appliance's lone goal was scored by Nester Baird with assists going to Cary Goodman and Todd Monkman.

Air North/Cinderwood 8,

ORC Tree Services 3

Ryan Gleason netted the first and last goal of the second for Air North/Cinderwood Sunday in the A division.

Joe Mason also finished with two goals on Air North/Cinderwood, while the team's remaining scoreres included Jay Glass, Darius Elias, Darrell Sturke and Kirk Gale.

Dan Johnson, Dan King and Mike Wilson each scored for ORC in the loss.

Midget Mustangs 1, Roadhouse 1

Cody Underhill scored the lone goal for the Midget Mustangs in the team's 1-1 tie against Roadhouse on Sunday in the A division.

Trevor Hanna and Ryley O'Connor each finished the game with one assist for the Mustangs.

Matt Horsey scored for Roadhouse, while Ryan Hodgins and Darren VanLangen were both credited with an assist on the play.

Narrow Gauge Contractors 9, Castle Rock 4

Phillip Harry played an outstanding game for Narrow Gauge on Sunday in the league's B division. He finished with a hat trick and one assist, while Milo Jordan also had a four point performance, netting two goals and two assists in the team's victory.

The remaining goal scorers on the team included Graeme Carruthers, James Maltby and Dan MacDonald.

Other notable players included Yves Paradis, who contributed three assists in the win.

Gord Campbell led all scorers on Castle Rock, netting two in total, while Jeff O'Farrell and Mike O'Connor each finished with one goal.

Bantam Mustangs 5, Y.E.S. Jets 3

It was a closely fought battle Sunday in the B division between the Bantam Mustangs and the Y.E.S. Jets.

The Mustangs scored the first four goals of the game, but the Jets came back in the second to cut the lead in half before the Mustangs added one more to put the game out of reach.

Y.E.S. scored the final goal with less than two minutes remaining in the contest, but that would be as close as the team would get.

Brett Roulston scored three of the Mustangs four goals in the first period, while the two remaining scorers were Gibson Pearson and Bradley Koprowsky.

Tyson Glass also played well finishing with three assists, while Gage Preece finished with two assists in the victory.

Goal scorers on the Jets included Chris Day, Jonathan Osborne and Shane Parker.
