Team Koltun, a pre-tournament favourite at the 2014 M&M Meat Shops Canadian Junior Curling Championships in Liverpool, N.S., is struggling to find its winning form after opening the tournament with a 10-2 loss to Saskatchewan.

At press time today, Sarah Koltun's Yukon rink has just lost their third game of the tournament 9-8 to Alberta's Kelsey Rocque, giving up steals of singles in each of the last three ends.

The team – which is the first in Canadian history to qualify for both the junior nationals and Scotties in the same year – is currently sporting a 2-3 record after three days of play on the East Coast.

Koltun's junior rink also includes third Andrea Sinclair, second Patty Wallingham and lead Jenna Duncan.

On Saturday morning, Team Koltun dropped its opener 10-2 to Saskatchewan's Kristen Streifel. The rink would bounce back with a 15-2 drubbing of Nunavut's Sadie Pinksen, however.

Yesterday, the team had another .500 day, losing 7-4 to Quebec's Camille Boisvert before beating Northwest Territories' skip Carina McKay-Saturnino 10-5.

Alberta's Rocque (4-0) and Ontario's Molly Greenwood (4-1) lead the women's standings.

Meanwhile, the Yukon junior men's rink led by Joe Wallingham has lost four straight after opening with a 6-4 win over British Columbia's Cameron de Jong on Saturday.

Wallingham's rink dropped their latest to New Brunswick's Rene Comeau 8-2 this afternoon, after losing 5-3 to Robert Mayhew's Nova Scotia rink earlier.

Yesterday, the Yukon dropped both of their games, 8-6 to Alberta and 7-4 to N.W.T.

Alongside Wallingham, the Yukon junior men's rink consists of third Spencer Wallace, second Brayden Klassen and lead Trygg Jensen.

Manitoba's Braden Calvert (4-0) and New Brunswick's Comeau (5-0) lead the men's standings with unbeaten records.
