Klondike Road Relay return to Skagway a big success

On Sept. 9 and 10, over 1,500 runners and walkers made their way from Skagway to Whitehorse in the 39.5 Klondike Road Relay, according to a press release from Sport Yukon.

On Sept. 9 and 10, over 1,500 runners and walkers made their way from Skagway to Whitehorse in the 39.5 Klondike Road Relay, according to a press release from Sport Yukon.

The 2022 rendition of the event marked the first time in two years the iconic race was done in it’s entirety from Skagway to Whitehorse.

“The return of Sport Yukon’s biggest event couldn’t have gone any better,” said Sport Yukon executive director Tracey Bilsky.

She added “Thank you to all the runners, volunteers, and sponsors that made the event so special.

“With next year being the 40th anniversary, we leave 2022 feeling motivated to plan something special for the community.”

The Klondike Road Relay featured a record number of youth teams at 17 and introduced theAdult ½ leg category and the Party in the Park in 2022, which were big successes.
