There was nothing Wierd(a) about Mark's game, as the shifty centre scored twice to lead the Firth Rangers to a 6-2 win over CapriCMW in Whitehorse Oldtimers hockey action Sunday at Takhini Arena.

Pete Johnston also had a grand game with two goals, and George Morgan and Marcello Masone rounded out the scoring. Martin Lawrie and Ben Campbell connected in the loss.

Medicine Chest 6, Titanium Storage 1

Jamie Cairns was 'sick' with the puck as he scored once and dished out four apples to lead MC, and in the process took over the league scoring lead (20 points in seven games). Linemate Mike Gau collected the hat trick on feeds from Cairns, and Phil MacDonald and Gerry Brandt netted the others. Chad Cowan spoiled the shutout for the Titans.

EDI 5, Yukon Inn 0

The usual characters scored for EDI - Dustin Heffner and Gus Morberg each tallied two, and Willy McKenna got the other. Guest goalie Brian Power notched the shutout.

Kilrich 6, Air North 2

Shawn Kinsella hammered home three, and Nate Clark, James Pugsley and Ryan Martin each nailed one in the win. Wes Marsh was flying, as he scored both in the loss.

Thursday

EDI survived a furious second-period air attack as they held off Air North 6-4 in Whitehorse Oldtimers Hockey action Thursday at Takhini Arena. EDI led 4-0 at one point but the orange men stormed back to tie it at 4 before Dustin Heffner's third goal of the game with 9:10 left put EDI ahead to stay. Geoff Quinsey added two and Gus Morberg one in victory, while Ron Billingsley chipped in a pair for Air North, and Colin Nash and Brian Currie each netted one.

Yukon Inn 4, Firth 2

Four different skaters served up goals in the win - Peter Mostyn, Frank Aucoin, Brad Hameister and Joel Witten. Jordan Borgford and Marcello Masone replied for the Rangers.

Medicine Chest 5, CaprCMW 2

Jamie Cairns continued his solid season with a hatty, and Phil MacDonald and Ron Sumanik stuffed in one apiece for the victors. Martin Lawrie netted both for Capri.

Tim Hortons 6, Kilrich 0

Paul Dainton collected his second shutout in three games for Tims, and Josh Savill and Doug Terry carried the offence with two goals each. Chris Carli and Tim Turner-Davis added singles.

Medicine Chest (5-2-1) has pulled even with Tim's (5-1-1) in the season standings. Each team has 11 points, although Tim's has played one less game.

Yukon Inn (4-2) and Kilrich (3-2-2) are next, tied with eight points each. The Inn has played one less game, though.

The Chest, Tim's and Titanium lead in goals for, all tied with 34. Tim's, on the strength of another Dainton donut this week, lead the league with a paltry 11 goals surrendered.

As mentioned, MC's Cairns leads the scoring parade with 20 points (6 goals, 14 assists) in seven games.

EDI sniper Morberg is second with 16 points, including 11 goals, in just four games.

Timmy Ho-Ho's Savill is third with 15 points and has matched Morberg for the league lead with 11 goals.

Cairns has collected the most apples so far, with 14 helpers this season.

Not surprisingly, among goaltenders, Dainton leads the league with a 1.57 Goals Against Average and five wins.

The Chest's Gerald Tetlichi is second with a 3.14 GAA and four wins. Paul Husband of the Inn sits third with a 3.83 GAA, and has also notched four wins.
