Jack Hulland school sweeps Grade 7 volleyball championships

Jack Hulland swept the Grade 7 volleyball championships held last week in Whitehorse.

Jack Hulland swept the Grade 7 volleyball championships held last week in Whitehorse.

A round-robin took place at the Canada Games Centre.

The girls’ round robin was Nov. 3 and the boys round-robin went on Nov. 4.

All of the playoff games were held at Porter Creek Secondary School Nov. 5.

The Jack Hulland girls beat Whitehorse Elementary School (WES) in the semifinals and then Takhini Elementary in the finals.

The Jack Hulland boys beat WES in the semifinals and CSSC Mercier in the finals.

The Jack Hulland girls team was coached by Krystal McKenna.

Jeff Frizzell coached the winning boys team.

Yukon Schools Athletic Association (YSAA) President Kristen Johnston said the “Elementary Volleyball Championships were a success. We had 23 teams in total, with one team coming from Del Van Gorder School in Faro.”

Regarding the Jack Hulland Grade 7 sweep, Johnston said “It was great to see such a strong boys and girls team, they must have been practising a lot!”

Johnston added “Thank you again to our officials and coaches.”
