Matt Hosford, playing in his first game, was the inspiration behind Chieftains first win of the season, as they shattered Yukon Brewing 6-2 in the opening game of the morning in over-35 soccer action.

Hosford picked up a hat trick and was hungry for work, as he set about Brewing like a rabid dog. His work rate was phenomenal and Captain Kruno Kunovic was a happy camper when he also scored and was pleased by his team’s performance.

The game was close at half time, but it turned into one way traffic in the second half of the game, with Yukon Brewing having no answer to Hosford.

Hector Lang and league legend Guliano Rayo also scored.

There were a few bright spots for Yukon Brewing, as Ernesto Castillo and an own goal gave the scoreline a hint of respectablity, but these are dark days for Yukon Brewing who need a miracle to win some games.

Magical Fru puts on a show

Franklin Fru was on another planet on Saturday for Pespi, as his skill, pace and trickery condemned unbeaten Yukon info.com to a 9-4 pounding.

There were times that Fru was like a matador, as angry players rushed to dispossess him, but were left to look silly as he cha-cha-chaed passed them and either scored or set up a goal for his team mates.

By the end of the game you could hear ole’s going around the crowd as he performed another trick.

Fru’s foil was Jonathan Hawkins, as he benefitted from the space created and was able to extract as much pain as possible for Yukon info.

Fru got a hat trick and there were doubles for David Rayo and Will Chetcuti, with Adil Khalik and Hawkins getting the other goals.

Yukon info.com did get four goals, wih Tobogo, Goher Hafeez, Matt Larsen and captain Miles Hume scoring, but they must have felt like they were the team the Harleem Globetrotters play every week, as they were only there to make Pepsi look good.

Honours even between
Air North Rangers and
Klondike Office Systems

In a hard fought game there was nothing that could separate two very good sides, as the game ran out to a 2-2 tie.

Jan Aalt Van den Horne smashed in a very nice goal early on, only for Huy Nguyen to eqalize shortly afterward.

Wonderkid Carlos Astorquiza put Air North ahead and looked set to win the game, but Air North’s inactivity at the start of the season would end up being their downfall.

Their fitness began to let them down, no more so than captain Iain Breckenridge, who was blowing like an asthmatic steam train going up a steep hill.

KOS smelt blood in the water and attacked with all they had, and eventually the Canaries levelled the game when Mark Chandler was awarded a penalty after the Blues’ Ed Peart brought the captain down in the area.

Chandler himself stepped up to take the shot and slipped the ball home for KOS to end a thrilling game with both teams tired but happy.
