Vollmer said it felt “pretty nice” to be on his home hill.

“I’ve been training here since I got back, for a couple of weeks. It was pretty good conditions today … as soon as we finished the snow came in.”

Schirmer said conditions were “really good. We have a good relationship with the hill, so they groomed for us. We had a nice groomed hill and a closed run, so it was all perfect.”

Asked if anyone stood out for him, Schirmer replied “I saw some good skiing but it’s racing, you know. Sometimes you lose and sometimes you win.”

Schirmer added he was happy with the level of the skiing.

“Through the whole season I’m really impressed and I’m really happy with the performance of the Yukon ski team, even the development team and the Snow Stars, the little guys, our coaches did a really good job, so I hope they keep going and keep growing.”
