Fabian Glyka had the game of his life as he showed the rest of the league how to beat Chieftain in a massive shock in over-35’s soccer on Saturday.

Gylka was deadly in front of goal, powering in shots from all angles.

Chieftain gave everything in defeat but were lacking thier normal sharpness in the red zone, allowing Yukon Brewing to run out an impressive 6-2 win.

Co-captain Derek Funk is showing some real consistency as the responsibility of leading the team is having a positive effect on him.

He only goes to the bar five nights a week now as he leads by example, grabbing a couple of goals to push towards the top of the golden boot list.

Hector ‘the hangman’ Lang is looking trim and up for the fight this year as he got the other Yukon Brewing goal.

Chieftains’ 100 per cent winning record is now in tatters, but they are still leading the league by a wide margin and will be difficult to catch.

Mark Chandler and Jesse Walchuk got the goals in consolation for them.

Air North destroy
Yukoninfo.com

Air North Rangers were ruthless as they put Yukoninfo.com to the sword, running out comfortable winners with a 6-3 win.

Air North went behind to a visious Adil Khalik shot, but this seemed to energize the team as they were better all over the pitch.

Captain Iain Breckenridge fired in the equalizer and then never looked back.

Breckenridge had organized his side in such a way that Yukoninfo.com failed to be a cohesive force, only sporadically spluttering into life.

Air North were first to the ball, more aggressive and their work rate was phenomenal.

They won the midfield battle, which ultimately won them the game.

Franklin Fru picked up two goals, River Walton supplied two goals and there was one for veteran Mark O Brien.

The one positive Yukoninfo.com had was the return of Mikey Jones to the team, however, that was the only thing as he ran around like a headless chicken, getting in everyone’s way.

Matthias Hartmann and Justin Carre got thier usual goals, but it was a performance that will worry nonplaying captain Danny Macdonald going into their bye week.

Pepsi too good for Driving Force

Cirian Connolly’s Pepsi team had all the bases covered in a comprehensive win over Driving Force. It was as if he put a blanket over the whole area and choked the life out of Driving Force. Pepsi, stung by a few defeats, seemed more up for the challenge as they eased to a 5-1 victory, with five different scorers sharing the goals among the team.

Jan Aalt van den Hoorn, playing in goal for Pepsi, was allowed to run the entire length of the pitch to score.Eric ‘big easy’ Murphy picked up his second of the campaign. Pat Zuccarini capped a good performance off with a goal, as did Phil Jackson. The final goal went to skipper Connolly as he smashed in a penalty.

Driving Force’s skipper Keith Welch was tireless for his team, and although they lost, he is a very positive influence on the team and keeps their spirits high.

Martin Farrow got the Driving Force goal, which was a great reward for a great performance.
