Displaying their talent in a dominant final, Elijah Smith Elementary School skated to an Elementary School Hockey Tournament championship Wednesday afternoon.
The team, ESES 2, beat Christ the King Elementary School 5-0 in the 30-minute final at the Canada Games Centre.
Pool play began at 8:30 a.m. with the championship games being played in the afternoon.
ESES 1 won bronze.
The tournament allowed a chance for some Whitehorse Minor Hockey Association players to don their school colours.
Pool action did not disappoint as organizers had to resort to flipping a coin to determine seeds when a number of teams tied for games won, and goals for and against.
The gold-medal game was a one-sided affair. ESES got on the board about 10 minutes into the game. Then the goals kept coming.
