Doyle shows Air North how it’s done

Pepsi played a wonderful tactical game that left Air North bereft of ideas and somewhat bewildered on how they would have won this match even if it was played 100 times.

The man with a plan was Stephen Doyle, who played his part leading the rearguard and coaxing his team into following his strategy.

Jonathan Hawkins was Doyle’s ace up his sleeve. He seemed to have more time on the ball than anyone else. His smart play drew appreciation from his teammates and consternation from the opposition.

It was Hawkins’ goal that separated the two teams in the end, and it was a deserved victory for Pepsi.

Air North are still a work in progress, and they will need all of skipper Iain Breckenridge’s nouce to find a way to score goals as they looked very fragile in front of the net.

Air North haven’t registered a point yet, but the season is still young and with a talented roster, they are bound to be pushing for honours at the end of the season.

Jordan sticks it to
Yukon Brewing

Ash Jordan was hungry for goals as his unbeaten Yukoninfo.com team smashed seven goals past Yukon Brewing to stay top of the league.

Jordan was a constant menace throughout the game. His speed and velocity of his shot was something that Yukon Brewing couldn’t handle; he was allowed too much space and Yukon Brewing was made to pay for this indiscretion.

The Brew welcomed back Captain and talesman Cirian Connolly and for the first few minutes they looked like they could compete, but after the first goal went in it was one-way traffic for much of the game.

Jordan smashed in four goals to stake his claim for the golden boot, but he is still behind the runaway leader Miles Hume, who added two more to his total. Mike Zuccarini rounded out the scoring for Yukononinfo.com.

Yukon Brewing’s only score was a comedy own-goal effort from River Walton, that over 35’s legend John Macphail would have been proud of.

Driving Force beat
luckless Chieftain

Driving Force managed to eke out a victory when for most of the game they were behind to a much-improved Chieftain team.

Driving Force won the game 3-2 in the end, but this was a game Chieftain could have won if their defence could have held out for a little longer, but fatigue and a lack of confidence did them in.

The game was screaming out for someone to take charge, but both teams found it hard to dominate the other and it was grateful for individual moments of brilliance.

Jesse Koeller was again the saviour for Driving Force as he hit a double and there was one for Roger the ‘artful dodger’ Hosking.

Kruno Kunovic again battled valiantly for his Chieftain team and scored a good goal as did Hector ‘the Hangman’ Lang, but they just came up short in their pursuit for victory, leaving them winless after three games and propping up the league.
