The whisper on streets is that Ciaran Connolly is poised to take over as the new Republic of Ireland manager after his exploits as Yukon Brewing player/coach has taken them to new heights.

The Brew were winless, clueless and hopeless before Connolly took the bull by the horns and rearranged the team to a lean mean fighting machine. Yukon Brewing are now the form team which all the sides now fear playing.

Yukon Brewing were up against league leaders Pepsi, but the way the game panned out you would be hard pressed to know who was on top of the league and who was on the bottom..

Pepsi were blown away by the energy Yukon Brewing were able to bring to the game.

They were missing Jonathan Hawkins, but the way Yukon Brewing played he might not of made any difference, as Connolly got two goals and there was one each for Michael Bores, Michael Hamilton and Peter Mather.

Carre gives a master 36 class
in scoring

Justin Carre may be the older statesman of the over 35’s soccer league, but he still knows where the back of the net is.

If the Driving Force team could finish like Carre does this game would have been a lot closer, as it was Air North Rangers won easily in a 6-1 victory.

Early on Driving Force had a lot of good chances, set up by the livewire Sandy Gross who made it his lifetime achievement to dribble past Iain Breckenridge at every opportunity.

However, Breckenridge had the last laugh, scoring a goal and leading his side to the lopsided win.

Air North tactics mirrored Muhammed Ali’s rope a dope strategy against George Foreman, as they let Driving Force tire themselves out before unleashing Carre (three goals), Brendan Preston and Carlos Astorquiza (one goal each).

Graham Sim slammed in a consolation goal for Driving Force as their run of poor form continues.

Conversely Air North are looking like a very compact and difficult side to beat.

Pearson the Colssus
of Whitehorse

Warren Peason is a gift from the gods. He has been carved out of granite, he never takes a backward step and is the rock that the Klondike Office Solutions team is built on.

His performance Saturday was full of class, grit and determination.

Yukoninfo.com are a very good team with many fine players, but they couldn’t find a way through an organised KOS defence with Pearson at its heart.

KOS scored goals at good times, to make sure that Yukoninfo.com were never near enough to put pressure on the final result.

Huy Nguyen got the first goal for KOS, quickly followed by a Derek Funk special.

Ash Jordan pulled one back, but then Mark Chandler went to work with two excellent goals, before Miles Hume made the scoreline closer, with the game finishing 4-2 to Klondike Office Solutions.

The win puts the team to top of the league with only six games left, but with all seven teams within nine points the last round of games put any team in position to potentially win the league.

Stay tuned.
