Chef Angelo played Home Hardware in the final Game of the best of three final on May 13.
Chef Angelo led 19-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Home Hardware led 26-22 in the second quarter after an 11-3 run gave them the lead.
However, Chef Angelo took back the lead after a 9-2 run and lead 31-28 with 4:29 to go in the second quarter.
Chef Angelo extended the lead to 38-28 with 3:05 left after a 7-0 run.
They led 44-32 after a 6-4 run to close out the half.
John Dingcong was quite the sharpshooter for the Chefs, seemingly swishing in three-pointers at will.
Home Hardware made it close in the third quarter, pulling to within two, 65-63, outscoring Chef Angelo 31-21 in the quarter, mainly due to the efforts of Jicky Cabiso and Steve Sorochan.
However, Chef Angelo took over in the fourth quarter.
Bon Bon Pocesion was also lighting it up for the Chefs, taking over the game down the stretch.
The Chefs started pulling away with a 10-3 run in the fourth quarter, making it 75-66 with 7:46 left in the game.
They coasted to a final score of 98-84 for Chef Angelo.
Pocesion was the leading scorer for Chef Angelo with a game-high 33 points.
“I’m very happy for this opportunity,” he said after the game.
He said teammates not being selfish was the key to victory.
“It’s because of my teammates (that) we were able to play good.”
John Dingcong chipped in 18 for the champs.
James Russell Tomarong and Jicky Cabiso scored 22 points each in a losing cause.
Domino’s Pizza finished in third place in the league.
The mythical five were Pocesion, Tomarong, Jo Aying of Home Hardware, Domino’s Dave Stehelin and Jomski Pahilanga of Irvine Janitorial.
Pocesion was honoured as the Finals and Season MVP.
He said he was happy to win the MVP awards in front of his friends and family.
Meanwhile, Triniti Dental/JPR Cleaning overpowered Yukon Driving Academy in the best of three 35-Open final, beating them by scores of 97-62 in Game 1 and 84-72 in Game 2 to take the championship.
The scoring leaders for Game 2 for Triniti were Nico Sarmiento with 31 points, Sam Wilson with 20, and Ian New chipped in 15.
Gage Sweeney led the way with 24 points for Yukon, with Enrique Miral swishing in 15.
Cornerstone Construction captured third place.
The Mythical five were Bryan Hermosa of Cornerstone, Sarmiento, New, Sweeney and Air North’s Sean McCarron.
Hermosa was the Season MVP and Wilson was the Finals MVP.
