Air North Rangers are maintaining their title charge with a comprehensive win 6-1 over Driving Force in over-35 soccer action.

The methodical way they take to games should be written in a soccer manual under the chapter: waiting for the other team to make a mistake.

Air North probes the other team looking for weaknesses like a pack of hyenas following a herd of zebras.

When Air North scored the opening goal the floodgates opened.

Craig Caldwell and Franklin Fru nabbed two goals each and there was one apiece for Roger Hosking and River Walton.

Driving Force had some chances early on, but didn’t make them stick and were punished for of it.

The only consolation was a Val Shapoval goal.

The win takes Air North to the summit of the league, with a one point advantage, although second-place Chieftain have a game in hand.

Jackson uses his head

Klondike Office Systems have been playing the long game all season.

They have lured the opposition into a false sense of security, playing and losing all season long and now they are showing their true colours as they beat Yukon Brewing 4-1.

Skipper Phil Jackson scored a hat trick with two well taken headed goals and a cheeky tap in to give his side the goals for victory.

Sandy Gross has been a revelation in the second half of the season. The diminutive dynamo is the cog that the Canaries need to function, once he is wound up tight enough he explodes into life.

Yukon Brewing brought in some big guns to fill the gaps in their line up, but they couldn’t find the rhythm they needed to break down a resurgant Klondike Office Systems who were missing the great Jurgen Korn. The seasoned vet is out for the rest of the season as he needs to bathe in the elixiir of life.

Pepsi too good for
Yukoninfo.com

Ciaran Connolly’s hard working Pepsi team were able to keep Yukoninfo.com at bay with a 3-2 win, although the closeness of the final score belies the dominance that Pepsi had.

Yukoninfo.com actually scored the first goal through a Jan van den Horne piece of individual brilliance, but Pepsi soon equalized through Pat Zuccarini, and from there they slowly ramped up the pressure.

Pepsi were dominating the midfield battle and poor Justin Carre for Yukoninfo.com was overwhelmed.

It was like trying to hold sand in the palm of your hand, as Connolly, and the Zuccurini’s ran riot; the only problem was that they weren’t mastering the scoreboard, even though Graham White picked up a goal.

Skipper Connolly had the best assist of the day, unfortunately it was to Carre on the other side. He did however make amends when he scored the winner to keep their unbeaten run going, and ensure Yukoninfo.com won’t be winning the league title this year.
