Lawrence Ulrich
March 29, 1942 - January 11, 2022
It is with enormous sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence Ulrich on January 11, 2022 at the age of 79 years. Lawrence (Lorne) was a beloved grandfather, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, whose phenomenal work ethic had no parallel, and his love for life had no equal.
Born in Edmonton Alberta, Lorne moved to the Yukon with his wife Carole and young daughter Vanessa in 1969. Lorne loved everything the North had to offer, and quickly became a permanent fixture in the Whitehorse community. Lorne started off his Yukon adventure working for White Pass for five years, then Lorne and Carole launched their own dream starting Cee & Cee Dirt and Gravel, which they owned and operated for 47 years. When Lorne wasn’t hanging out in his gravel quarries working his aggregate magic, he could be found letting loose, skidooing and camping in the backcountry with friends and family.
Lawrence will be lovingly remembered by his wife Carole Ulrich, mother Bertha Ulrich, daughter Melinda Martin, son Travis Ulrich (Sharon), grandchildren Brittany & Jocelyn Martin, Kataya & Tanner Ulrich, Samantha Bowers, as well as his brother, five sisters and extended families. He is preceded in death by his daughter Vanessa Bowers, but they have now been reunited, and they’re showing heaven what a super fun father-daughter team can do!
The family would like to thank all the wonderful folks in House 5 at Whistle Bend Place (both staff and residents) for making Lorne’s final year a good one. We appreciate your love and compassion, especially during this challenging time.
To all Lorne’s many friends… we’ll have a memorial soon, where we can all gather together in person again, to share hilarious stories, and raise a drink, to a great man with a heart of gold.
