Joseph George Holden
May 9, 1949 – February 4, 2023
George, Yukon Kid, Fonzie
In loving memory and great sadness we announce the passing of our dear brother George.
With life becoming too much for him to live, and not getting the help he so desperately needed, George took his own life.
George was born May 9, 1949, in Ontario, the first of 9 children.
He enjoyed many things in life; hunting, boating and waterskiing on Falcon Lake with his brothers, cousins and friends.
George lived and worked in Thompson, MB at the nickel mine Inco, and drove truck all his working years. In 1971 he moved to Grande Prairie, AB, and then to the Yukon in 1972; first to Watson Lake then Whitehorse.
George really enjoyed living in the north country (his words). He was especially proud of the big horn sheep he got and had the head mounted.
He enjoyed his family visits when he would come home to Manitoba or the times family travelled up to the Yukon to visit him. George loved his family, his little brothers and sisters meant a lot to him.
They are now left to their memories of George; sister Vivian (Patrick), brother Bill, sister Mary (Gordie), sister Ann (Peter), and sister Doreen.
George had many nieces and nephews; two of his favourites were Amanda K. and Dana H. Uncle George loved these two girls.
George had many friends; some of his true friends were Laurence F, Randy R, Kirby R, and Gordie.
He was predeceased by his brother Ernie, his sister Midge, his parents Joe and Virginia, his brother Jim, and his uncle George.
George, I pray you found peace, we will miss you and you’ll continue to live in our memories. I will also miss not getting a humourous birthday card from you.
A Celebration of life will be held at the Casa Loma on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 2pm.
Thanks to Randy for all of your help.

I am sorry to hear of George’s passing.
I treasured the times when he would stop by to just chat. He always brightened my day.

I am still in shock over this news. My condolences to his sisters, brother and nieces and nephews. I can only imagine how difficult this is for you all.
I had known George for many many years, thru ups and downs, and everything in between. The last few years we drifted apart….I wish so badly he’d have reached out …..love you George and you know I always will. I hope your at peace now ❤️
