Dennis Schneider

June 10, 1942 – January 31, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Schneider.

Dennis was born on June 10, 1942 in Flin Flon, Manitoba. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Yvonne.

Dennis was sworn into the RCMP January of 1961 and after completing training in November of the same year he was transferred to “F” Division (Saskatchewan).

Dennis and Yvonne were married in October of 1963 and so began the life of an RCMP family. After many postings in Saskatchewan, Dennis was transferred to “M” Division – Whitehorse Detachment. He retired from the Force in 1996 with 36 years of service. Not one to be idle, he embarked on new careers, realtor, Speaker of the Yukon Legislative Assembly and school bus driver. In 2004 Dennis and Yvonne were ready for retirement and enjoyed many years as snowbirds, spending the winter months in Arizona and summers in the Yukon.

Dennis was a big personality, kind hearted, generous and quick to offer an opinion. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him.

Dennis is survived by the love of life and sweetheart of 65 years, Yvonne, sister Donna Lee (Gordie) and children Lorianne Hinton (Mike), Chris Schneider (Denise), Jennifer Szakszon (Michael) and his grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel, Taylor and Kalli.

A private celebration of life will be held for family at a later date. Expressions of condolence may be sent to jennifer.szakszon@hotmail.com
