Candace (Candi) Carpenter
Born Oct 4, 1964 – August 22, 2023
Candi passed away August 22, 2023, in the Palliative care unit of Vancouver General Hospital. She was diagnosed with aggressive cancer only 18 days before she slipped away.
Chanae, Cort, Crystal, and Valerie were with her while she was in the hospital and when she passed away.
She is survived by her daughter Chanae Carpenter (Daniel), grandson Remi, son Cort Carpenter (Stephanie), her niece Crystal Parent (Matt) her grandniece Frankie (who was like a granddaughter to her), her only sister Valerie MacAlister, her nephew Bart MacAlister (Susan) grandniece Hallie, grandnephew Bo, nephew Brett MacAlister and many close friends that were like family to her (Too many to list). A special mention to Sharon Roberts and her sister Karen who were a great support to Candi and her family.
She was deeply loved by her family and friends, the staff at Sanchez Cantina, and so proud and happy to be a grandmother to Remi. Remi called her Nanny and Face Timed her every week. He would dance and play the guitar for her.
Candi and her sister Valerie traveled together many times over the years, to Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, to Mexico, to Cuba, to Europe twice, to Las Vegas, and many other places.
At age 17 in 1982 Candi moved to the Yukon to be close to her sister Joy.
Candi was predeceased by her parents Ed and Rita Klassen, her sister Joy Doonan, and her brother Bradley Klassen.
Candi is known by many Yukoners as she worked at several businesses including the Airport Chalet, Whitehorse Medical and Sanchez Cantina where she was employed when she became ill.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at Sanchez Cantina on September 24, 2023, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm – anyone who knew Candi is invited to come – refreshments will be provided by Sanchez Cantina.
