Yukon Public Libraries patrons are noticing changes when accessing the online catalogue.

Along with a modified appearance, the new online catalogue boasts increased search-function capabilities and makes it easier for users to manage their patron accounts, the Yukon government said Monday, when the changes went into effect.

The catalogue also makes navigating the online resources easier and introduces new features, such as personalized recommendations and the ability to submit book requests directly from a patron account.

Library users across the territory can access the new catalogue.

As part of the catalogue rollout, the public is invited to provide feedback about their user experience by calling Yukon Public Libraries at 667-3668 or emailing whitehorselibrary@yukon.ca.

“Libraries play a vital role in our communities, and we thank everyone involved with making it easier for Yukoners to access our diverse range of library resources,” said Community Services Minister Richard Mostyn.

“Transitioning to a new catalogue system is an important step towards modernizing our library system, and just one of many ways that we are making these important community spaces more accessible and functional to users.”

The implementation of the new catalogue system marks the initial phase of modernizing the online presence of Yukon Public Libraries, with the upcoming soft-launch of a brand new library website in the coming weeks.

The new catalogue system and website will officially launch in October (Library Month).

I totally love our Library. Disabilities are so much more 'livable' with our Library. Sight impairment puts reading back in your life with audiobooks. Renting newspapers, magazines. Affordable now because I can rent them. I have a computer, but others don't. The Library does, and people can use them there. The Library offers something for everyone. There is not a single complaint that I could make about our facility. I'll take this opportunity to thnk the folks that work there, always so helpful to me.
