The Yukon Employees’ Union (YEU) has a new president, as long-time boss Steve Geick has retired after 14 years in the post.

The union held its annual conference last weekend in Whitehorse.

Justin Lemphers, a current vice-president with the union, was elected president.

On Monday, the Star requested an interview with Lemphers to discuss his goals over his coming mandate.

The YEU said he was unavailable to speak about his plans.

The new vice-presidents are Lisa Vollans-Leduc, and vice-president, communities, Julie Ann Abel.

Lemphers ran as the territory’s NDP candidate in the October 2019 federal election.
