The Yukon First Nations Culture and Tourism Association (YFNCT) has a new executive director.

Robin Chambers, a citizen of the Kluane First Nation, belongs to the Raven Clan.

She was raised in Haines Junction and has lived in Whitehorse for many years, working in the public sector and serving on a number of boards and committees, including the Kluane National Park Management Board and the Kluane Community Development Limited Partnership.

Chambers carries the traditional name Chusia and inherited her middle name Kluane, both of which are generational.

They have provided her with a strong connection to her culture and family history, which includes Tlingit, Southern Tutchone, Irish, Scottish and English origins.

“I’m honoured to join the Yukon First Nation Culture and Tourism Association as the executive director,” Chambers said Monday.

“I’m committed to applying my experience and personal values to promote the development and growth of YFNCT through leadership, representation and opportunities for Indigenous artists, makers and businesses.”

“On behalf of the YFNCT board of directors, I would like to welcome Robin in the role as executive director,” said board president Marilyn Jensen.

“Robin’s experience, passion and strong leadership skills will be invaluable in the continued growth of this organization and the Indigenous arts, culture and tourism industries in the Yukon.”

The YFNCT also thanked Katie Johnson for serving as interim executive director during the last year.

The organization works on behalf of the Yukon’s growing First Nations tourism, arts and culture industries, representing operators, artists, cultural centres, festivals and other experience providers.

This is huge news.
I think one of the most important articles I read all day, bumped the global war hawks even.
