The new board game Whitehorse-Opoly (based on Monopoly, the best-selling game of all-time) is now available in the city.
Outset Media has partnered with Walmart Canada to launch the new, limited edition game that showcases some of the attractions Whitehorse has to offer.
“Now, so you can compete with your friends and families to become the biggest real estate mogul in the city,” Outset Media said Thursday.
“The money is imaginary, but the fun is real.”
The game is available through Walmart.
Whitehorse-Opoly takes a unique spin on the original version of Monopoly, where the places are pillars of the Whitehorse community.
Featured landmarks include the Yukon Wildlife Preserve, Canada Games Centre and Yukon Brewing.
“People have been spending more time at home, leading to board games experiencing a resurgence in popularity,” said Outset Media, which is based in Victoria.
“That means it’s time to bring the celebration to new cities across Canada, so everyone can join in on the fun.”
Outset Media is a Canadian privately held wholesale supplier and manufacturer of toys, games and puzzles and founded by its president, David Manga, in 1996.
“At Outset Media, we are ecstatic that the citizens of Whitehorse have chosen to welcome us into their homes this summer and include us in weekly game nights with friends and family,” said Jean Paul Teskey, the company’s senior vice-president.
“We look forward to continuing the celebration of Whitehorse and other local communities across Canada.”
