The Yukon Party is applauding the territorial government’s work with the local Ukrainian community to welcome refugees to the territory.
“The introduction of the Ukraine Help Desk and the interpreter program at the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport are examples of collaborative work with the Yukon’s Ukrainian community to ensure we can help those needing refuge and fleeing the large-scale, wholly unprovoked attack by Russia,” the official Opposition said today.
“Many Yukoners and Canadians have family or connections to the nation of Ukraine and, together, we have been shocked and angered by the overwhelming displacement of Ukrainians from their peaceful, stable democratic nation,” said party leader Currie Dixon.
“As Yukoners marked Ukraine Independence Day last week, it was reported that numerous Ukrainian-speaking Yukoners are acting as interpreters to greet and guide refugees arriving on weekly Condor flights, and eight refugees from the conflict have permanently settled in the territory to date with more to arrive soon,” Dixon said.
“That joint community and government effort is a credit to the hard work of government officials and residents, as we stand together to oppose the illegal and immoral acts in Europe.”
Last February, Porter Creek North MLA Geraldine Van Bibber wrote an open letter to encourage Economic Development Minister Ranj Pillai to ensure the territory and Yukoners are prepared to welcome any Ukrainian refugees.
“The minister indicated that they would work with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada to facilitate job matching of Ukrainian refugees with local employers,” the Yukon Party said.
“The welcome and co-operation with the local community has been a success as Yukoners continue our long tradition of receiving those in need.”
As Canadians, Dixon said, “we cannot become complacent while a full-scale invasion occurs in a democratic European country.
“Canada has undertaken many actions to support Ukraine, but we need to do more.
“I renew my calls for Canada to expel the Russian ambassador and to levy the strongest possible sanctions against Russia’s energy sector, as well as ensure Canada does our part to increase the supply of energy to our allies in Europe to displace their dependence on Russian energy.”
Last February, the Yukon Party called on Canada to live up to its NATO treaty obligations and support broad economic sanctions against Russia and Russian entities, and expel the Russian Ambassador to Canada.
In addition, the Ottawa Citizen and other newspapers across the country, including the Star, published an April commentary from Dixon outlining the need for adequate military power to defend Canada’s interests in the North.

By far the biggest threat to our “sovereignty” and our quality of life...
Is absolutely internal, comes from our sitting PM.
That fool has its loyalty to WEF, The UN, and other globalists seeking power and domination.
Support Ukrainian freedom whilst throwing ours away, makes sense.

Oh come on, the edit was my point!
The rest is lacking context as a direct result.
No guns for us, but guns for Ukraine via this regime is, was my point.
Actually no, the displays of virtue seem to drown out a fact or five.
“I stand for the latest thing” is often better you remain seated.

For all that feel good supporting Ukraine, pontificate this please.
Huge gobs of USA and Canadian money is being laundered by the military industrial complex...ie tools of violence.
Yet at the same time we taxpayers are funding Ukrainian arms, and providing arms to said country?
So you can all feel nice inside when thinking of Ukraine and “defending themselves “
A good person with a firearm could most certainly STOP a savage double digit stab fest.
Mind you a justice system could’ve too, but PC Crusaders, perpetual victim status advocates have a lot of blood on their hands.
Cannot have virtue without shame in a regular thinking world.

DL, seeing how a lot of your anti-vax propaganda was sourced from Russia it is not surprising to see you falling for more of dictator Putin's agitprop about his invasion of Ukraine. Here's a few virtual sunflower seeds for your pocket.

Politicians need to look at what's happening in the real world before advocating sanctions against Russia. Fact is, these sanctions have badly backfired against European countries, most of which are hugely dependent on Russian gas. Russia’s economy has actually benefited from these sanctions, which have increased the price of their huge gas resources. Many countries around the world disagree with NATO’s sanctions and are still trading with Russia, to their mutual benefit.
Citizens all over Europe are the ones suffering from these sanctions, and huge numbers of people are protesting against both sanctions and NATO.
Here’s an example:
“70,000 Czechs take to the streets against government, EU and NATO”
https://www.euronews.com/2022/09/04/70000-czechs-take-to-the-streets-against-government-eu-and-nato
If you really want to help Ukraine and Europe, drop all sanctions now and advocate a return to reasonable negotiations with Russia. If not, Europeans will literally be freezing this winter:
“Main gas pipeline to EU will be closed until sanctions lifted – Kremlin”

Before endorsing NATO’s moves, politicians should study history, e.g. the 2014 Minsk agreement with Russia that was broken by Ukraine and NATO over the past 8 years, and the terrible toll on citizens of the Donbas. Fact is, the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine didn’t come out of the blue. This conflict could be resolved through renegotiations with Russia, but NATO won’t allow it. Stopping this war now would compromise the huge profits made by the military industrial complex, which is essentially what NATO is about. You won’t hear that from mainstream media, you have to look up independent analysts.
Here’s an example:

I said something very loving and positive about the Ukrainians, but I guess again the WS didn't like it.
