Premier Ranj Pillai said he had “the privilege” of meeting Monday with Thomas Codrington, the United Kingdom Consul General, as part of the diplomat’s visit to the Yukon.
“During our conversation, I highlighted key priority areas for the Government of Yukon, including infrastructure to support our mining sector, clean and secure energy, and our commitment to working in partnership with Yukon First Nations,” Pillai said Tuesday.
“These initiatives align with key priorities of the United Kingdom such as critical minerals, trade, clean technology, science and innovation.
“Additionally, our discussion on cultural diplomacy, education initiatives and critical minerals reflected our shared values of reconciliation and environmental stewardship.”
The ongoing engagement, Pillai added, “is not only essential for fostering positive relations but also for driving sustainable development and addressing global challenges collaboratively.”
