McLean Lake in Whitehorse is guaranteed to host at least one winged wonder next week.

Loon Returns is being re-mounted this year for three performances, with new partners, a revised score, and improved sight lines to accommodate more audience members.

Loon Returns features members of the Problematic Orchestra, soloist Hannah Mazurek, story-teller Linda Harvey, and soloist Nicole Smith of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council Dance Group.

The non-profit event is free to the public with suggested donations. A shuttle will be provided for those with mo-
bility difficulties.

The July 28, 29 and 30 presentations will start at 9 p.m. at McLean Lake.

Come early if you want to bring a canoe or board to watch from the surface of McLean Lake.

Produced by Tova Krentzman and directed by veteran White-horse composer Daniel Janke, Loon Returns is an environmental operetta following in the tradition of Canadian music icon,
R. Murray Schafer.

It’s a whimsical meditation on the annual return of the loon, the most pre-historic bird on the planet, to northern lakes every spring.

Loon Returns is a production of Longest Night Society.
