This month, Yukoners who receive the Yukon Seniors Income Supplement (YSIS) will be issued their payment in two instalments instead of one.

The first one was issued on Oct. 10.

It consists of the regular supplement amount, plus an additional 6.4 per cent that has been added this month to adjust for inflation.

Today, recipients were to receive a second payment for the additional monthly inflation relief amount. That will add up to approximately 39 per cent of their YSIS payment.

YSIS recipients are being notified directly by mail and can call 667-8772 with any questions.

To be eligible for the YSIS, Yukon residents must be 65 years old and receive Old Age Security (OAS) and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) from the federal government.

It is also paid to spouses between 60 and 64 years of age who receive the Spouses Allowance or the Survivors Allowance.
