Haines Junction RCMP are continuing their search for Heinz Meyer, a 20-year-plus resident of the village who has been missing for more than a week.
Const. Dane McCarty, the lead investigator on the case, said Monday both the air and dog search teams were called off last Friday, after searching the entire area around the community, located 175 kilometres northwest of Whitehorse.
"The public's help is what we need right now," he said.
People have reported seeing the 64-year old man in both Haines Junction and Whitehorse, where he formerly lived, but none of the possible sightiings have been confirmed.
Police have contacted Meyer's family members, none of whom live in the Yukon, as well as all his known friends and associates.
According to McCarty, people who know him well have all said it is not like him to disappear into the bush, as he is neither a hunter nor a camper.
Although the case is continuing to mystify investigators, McCarty said there is no indication of foul play in his disappearance.
Meyer is described as caucasian, blue-eyed, balding, with a salt-and-pepper beard.
He weighs approximately 200 pounds and stands five feet 10 inches tall. He usually wears tinted prescription glasses and a baseball cap.
Anyone with any information on Meyer's whereabouts is asked to call the Haines Junction RCMP at (867) 634-2677.
