Ottawa supports projects in territory
The federal government has opened its coffers to provide another $3.6 million for Yukon projects.
The federal government has opened its coffers to provide another $3.6 million for Yukon projects.
The announcement was made Tuesday by Dan Vandal, the minister of Northern Affairs, and the one responsible for the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) and for Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan). Yukon MP Brendan Hanley also participated.
The funding, to be delivered by CanNor, supports two regional initiatives led by First Nations economic development organizations across the Yukon.
With this money, these organizations will create four new full-time jobs and maintain or expand 18 existing jobs.
They will also create opportunities for pre-employment training and enhance the competitiveness of local providers in the region.
Some of the funding will go to the Kluane Community Development Limited Partnership Kluane Community Development Limited Partnership (KCDLP).
“The support from CanNor for KCDLP and Creating Economic Resilience means we can advance the economic opportunities in the Kluane First Nation (KFN) traditional territory and in turn provide opportunities for KFN citizens, KFN-owned business and improve economic outcome for the territory as a whole,” said Tosh Southwick, the KCDLP’s chair.
“Yukoners support each other, especially during difficult times,” Hanley said. “These two projects supporting initiatives led by Indigenous economic development agencies reflect that.
“By creating jobs, expanding operations and building opportunities for skills development, we are working together towards inclusive and sustainable recovery and growth.”
“Thank you to the Government of Canada for this generous contribution from CanNor that will contribute to a stronger economy in the Yukon and ensure that no Yukoner, particularly those living in rural areas, is left behind,” added Ranj Pillai, the territorial minister of Economic Development.
“It is important that as we recover from the pandemic we make investments in our communities that will support job growth and support our local economy.”
Frances Aitken, the industrial manager of the Chief Isaac Group of Companies, said, “The team at Chief Isaac Mechanical are proud of the quality of their work and customer service.
“CanNor’s $1.5-million vote of confidence in them is a huge boost. This allows us to expand our services for heavy and light duty customers and grow our team of professional technicians,” Aitken added.
“As a 100 per cent First Nation-owned business, all our profits go back to the local community and CanNor’s investment increases our ability and capacity to do that.”

Liberalism Kills! on Mar 16, 2022 at 11:47 am
The Territorial and Federal Liberals are the political equivalent of a much older and much bigger older brother who pins you to the floor, grabs your wrists, and makes you punch yourself in the face while shouting, how come you’re hitting yourself, how come you’re hitting yourself. Meanwhile, the Liberal hordes choose to ignore the manipulation before their very eyes… Why is that person hitting themselves - This doctorate level Liberalism - The spintrack.

BnR : Thank you BnR, usually people are so mean on here. It's nice to get a compliment once in a while. I am not an economist, but i do my best to pass on the information that the brightest have provided.

What we really need is the feds revoking the vax mandates for flights within Canada, or truckers coming back across the border. Why is this not even discussed when there are ongoing financial and health hardships caused by these absurd mandates. The plandemic is over anyway, and the covax doesn't stop the transmission of the virus.

$3.6 million and 4 jobs. I'm thinking of registering as a FN. Beats trying to get help as a senior citizen.

Sadly, we cannot trust this Libs government. What about the 4 million dollars for installing quarantine sites in Watson Lake and Whitehorse, timed when the plandemic has ended... They think we've forgotten already?
Any news on that front? Where in Whitehorse are these quarantine sites installed exactly?

Lord..we need to get rid of the Liberal party. Every last one of them. At this moment every man, woman and child in Canada owes $30,783. When we elect a party, we, citizens, agree to "co sign" for them. IF the foreign interests that are lending us money should call in their debt, that is how much every one of us would have to pay. Printing more money has created the Canadian Peso.
Essentially, we co signed a massive amount of debt for a bum, a failed substitute teacher who couldn't hold a job as a life guard, or a bouncer. The bribe money they are handing out is for votes, not because any one of them gives a ***t. Shelves are empty, prices sky high.. Canada is a Titanic sailing into one hell of an ice berg..with the same result, some are going to make it..but the little guy, middle class is going to drown. What ever happened to "balance' the budget?
"The federal net debt rose by $253.4 billion in 2020 to reach $942.5 billion or 42.7% of GDP, compared with 29.8% in 2019. Financial assets for the federal government grew 13.2% to $523.5 billion, while liabilities increased by 27.3% to $1,466.0 billion.Nov 22, 2021" Just take a look at this site.. Canada's National Debt Clock.

Just don’t ask to see the books. The Liberals scrapped the Financial Accountability Act.
We really need to take a hard look at how much money is handed out to First Nation Development Corps. These tax dollars give them a huge and unfair advantage over local businesses owned by anyone else.

This is very interesting. FN's don't be fooled by any government giving you such small amount of money trying to buy your support instead of getting all governments together with an over all economic development strategy for all Yukoners
purposes and benefits. This is further dividing Yukoners. $3.6 million to create 4 jobs. What is said is mostly BS.
