Nearly three years after his body was found, the RCMP have laid first-degree murder and arson charges in the death of Gordon Tubman.

Alexander Dennis, 21, was arrested Thursday in Agassiz, in the Fraser Valley region of British Columbia, RCMP said today.

Very few details about what led to the arrest have been made public at this point.

Dennis appeared in court in B.C. after his arrest and was remanded in custody.

Arrangements are being made to fly him to Whitehorse, Yukon RCMP Cpl. Calista Macleod said today.

"As police officers, we endeavour to do complete and thorough investigations,” she said. "Every one is different.”

At approximately 7 a.m. on Aug. 15, 2010, the Whitehorse Fire Department and local RCMP responded to a fire at Tubman's mobile home on the Copper Haul Road.

Once the fire was put out, the 41-year-old's remains were found inside.

Police said from very early on they suspected foul play was involved but never released any details as to what led to that conclusion.

Dennis is originally from British Columbia.

Macleod reminded the public to always come to the police if they have information about a crime, even if they believe the information is too old.

I am glad to hear that someone has finally been arrested in this case. The day I heard of Gords murder was one if not the most shocking news I ever heard of in my life. Just hope the Whitehorse Judicial system does its' job! And Josey 18 years of age is considered an Adult in Canada he shouldn't fall under the Young Offenders Act.

Good...glad to hear there is interest in pursuing Gord's killer. Let us hope the evidence is solid, trial as fair as we can get here in Canada...and "if" convicted of said allegation...he rots for a few decades.

...Unless he sneaks in by his chinny chin chin with Canada's beyond laughable Young Offenders Act, then he may only do a few weekends (maaaybe) without video games.

R.I.P. Gord, many remember and miss you.
