Whitehorse RCMP arrested two local residents related to outstanding warrants on April 2.

Both were held for court and remanded into custody, police said last Thursday afternoon.

While attending an address in downtown Whitehorse for an unrelated call for service, police detected two people known to have warrants for arrest.

Osheana Kuster, 24, and Bobby Ward, 39, had both had warrants issued by the courts for their failure to attend court.

“Both attempted to evade police officers by entering a nearby residence,” police said.

“Police were granted a warrant to enter the residence and arrested both on their outstanding warrants.”

Ward has been charged with an additional offence of resisting or obstructing police related to his arrest.

He and Kuster had court appearances last Monday. Both were remanded into custody pending future court appearances as a result of their outstanding criminal charges.

Kuster is awaiting the following Criminal Code alleged offences being resolved in court:

• two counts of theft/misuse/fraud involving a credit card; and

• failure to attend court.
