All of the Yukon government and legislature websites were down first thing this morning following last night’s power outage in Whitehorse.

According to Madison Hanna, the manager of communications and public relations for Highways and Public Works – policy, communications and First Nation relations, “Last night there was a power failure between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. in a Government of Yukon building that houses one of our data centres.

“One of our back-up generators did not work properly during the outage, resulting in one of our data centres being powered down,” Hanna added.

“Highways and Public Works has been working on addressing the issue this morning, and most of the main services are either working now or will be shortly.

“Highways and Public Works technical staff will diagnose the issue with the backup generator and make any necessary repairs,” Hanna added.
