A fifth man has been arrested as part of a 10-month RCMP investigation into drug trafficking in the territory.

Four others were arrested in raids Monday night in Whitehorse.

Jacob Bowie Maynard, 19, of Whitehorse, has been charged with cocaine trafficking. He made his first appearance in territorial court Wednesday afternoon.

Four other men were arrested Monday night after Yukon RCMP conducted two “high-risk vehicle stops” and raided a local residence. Cocaine, weapons and cash were seized.

Cpl. Natasha Dunmall said this morning this was the result of a 10-month investigation into organized drug trafficking in the Yukon.

Warrants have been issued for seven others, who all face a charge of cocaine trafficking. Several of these people are believed to be outside the territory, Dunmall said.

“Police are confident there is no threat to public safety at this time,” a police news release states.

Steven James Bullers, 40, and Jeffery Paul Redick, 34, of Whitehorse have been charged with trafficking cocaine between May 22, 2014, and March 16, 2015.

Redick, as well as Taylor Joseph Wallace, 23, of Whitehorse, and Jason Reece Morgan, 33, of Abbotsford, B.C., are charged with possessing: cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, a prohibited weapon, a revolver without holding a licence, more than $5,000 cash obtained by crime, and a loaded restricted firearm.

Redick has also been charged with operating a motor vehicle on Mountainview Drive in Whitehorse in a dangerous manner, evading a police officer, and possessing a firearm when he was prohibited from doing so by a court order out of Surrey, B.C.

Bullers has been released on bail.

Redick, Wallace and Morgan have bail hearings scheduled for this afternoon. Maynard is set to have a bail hearing tomorrow.

The five men have been court-ordered not to have contact with each other and any of the seven other co-accused.
