Drug surveillance results in four arrests

RCMP officers from the general investigation section and the Whitehorse detachment have arrested four people after conducting a surveillance project.
On Friday evening, the officers arrested four males for suspected drug-related offences, says a press release issued today by the Whitehorse detachment.
Police seized cash, cocaine and marijuana.
The RCMP conducted surveillance on a local establishment, resulting in the arrests of 21-year-old Aaron Issayas and 26-year-old Nuaman Mohamud.
The release says further investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at a Porter Creek residence, where 21-year-old Rual Malek and 24-year-old George Smith were arrested.
Police seized $2,536 in cash, approximately six grams of cocaine and about 271 grams of marijuana.
The combined street value of the drugs is approximately $5,000.
All four men have been jointly charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Each of the accused were charged with additional offences under the act and are currently in jail awaiting bail hearings.
"Community concerns regarding street-level crime is an issue we take seriously,” said Insp. Will Tewnion of the Whitehorse detachment.
"We are equipped to deal with the suppliers of drugs when conducting these types of investigations; however, the demand is simply something we have no control over.
"We need the influence of our citizens, community groups and other partnering agencies to help bring down this demand.”
Meanwhile, an officer involved in the drug bust made another arrest and seizure of drugs late Friday evening at a local coffee shop.
He did so after being bothered, and finally pushed by a customer standing in line behind him, Const. Christine Grant said this morning.
Grant said the officer was in line when the man behind him began bothering him with questions about whether he was a police officer.
The officer, said Grant, politely asked the man to go about his own business and leave well enough alone.
Grant said the officer, who was in plain clothes, finally showed the man his badge, and again asked him to mind his own business.
The man in line then pushed the officer, said Grant.
The man was arrested, and was subsequently searched.
Grant said cocaine and marijuana were seized, and the man has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, along with a charge under the Drugs and Substances Act.
The name of the accused has not been released, as charges have not yet been formally sworn.

Yep...probably a good rule to go by if you are a) under the influence and b) in possession of narcotics is to NOT pick a fight in the line up at the local coffee shop with a cop. Stan is right...this dumb ass is in contention for a Darwin Award. Good job RCMP...keep it up.
