The Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce is generally in favour of the proposed city capital expenditure plan for 2024.

Allison Camenzuli, the chair of the chamber’s board of directors, appeared as a delegate at Monday’s council meeting.

“We don’t have specific recommendations,” she told the council, but the chamber does have some priorities, including waste management.

Camenzuli also mentioned wildfire planning, long-term planning, and the impacts of city projects on taxes and fees.

“It’s understanding and planning for businesses” on what might be coming down the pipe,” she said.

Emergency planning is also of concern to businesses, Camenzuli said.

Council had no questions for her.

The capital expenditures plan was later approved unanimously.

The City of Whitehorse appreciates support from the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce. It is nice to hear they believe we are headed in the right direction.

Some Council members may move onto Territorial politics and my hope is that they will continue to support the City of Whitehorse in their new roles.

If the Chamber wants acknowledgement for approving the City's Capital budget plan then the Chamber should pay for the will it wants to exude over the people really paying for the program.
