The Yukon’s chief medical officer approved the Canada Games Centre’s phased re-opening plan last Friday.
The City of Whitehorse made that development public on Monday afternoon.
The centre has been closed since March 18 due to the COVID-19 emergency.
A gradual re-opening will occur in June – although no specific date has yet been determined.
The track, fitness centre and Flexi-Hall (hard surfaces) will open first.
Fitness classes will also resume in the first phase, including some held outdoors.
A reopening plan for day camps is still being developed, the city said.
The pool and ice surfaces will not be opening until a future phase. The city gave no timeframe.
“We continue to work closely with and follow the recommendations from the Yukon’s chief medical officer of health (Brendan Hanley),” the city said.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we take these extra precautions to provide the safest environment possible for all who visit and work at our facility. We can’t wait to see your faces back at the CGC!”
