A 23-year-old Watson Lake man remains in custody facing several criminal charges, including aggravated assault.

Christopher Richard Greek was arrested shortly after another Watson Lake man in his 20s was physically assaulted and left outside near the local Mount Maichen ski hill at approximately 4:30 a.m. last Friday, Watson Lake RCMP report.

Sgt. Kent Langley told the Star this morning the victim was able to make it to a nearby residence.

A resident at the home took the man to the Watson Lake Hospital, where he was treated for several injuries, including severe frostbite.

He was later transported to Whitehorse by air ambulance for further treatment.

Temperatures on the morning of the assault dropped down to -47C.

Greek was arrested at another Watson Lake residence, Langley said.

In addition to the charge of aggravated assault, Greek is charged with driving while disqualified and failing to comply with three court orders.

There was no confirmation available this morning regarding the date of his next court appearance.

Langley said another man was arrested but no charges have been laid, though the investigation is continuing.

When you leave somebody out after you beat the hell out of them at -47, that is attempted murder. Heard it was over a girl, hope she was worth the jail time.

This is terrible behavior, so much anger in the world. You can't help but feel so bad for Christopher's Mother, she would be so devastated that her son was capable of such terrible unhealthy behaviour. I hope the victim recovers..so lucky he is still alive. This is terrible, Christopher needs to be accountable and to know that absolutely none of this is okay.
